New! En route to a performance at Galesburg Railroad Days in June 1999, Frisco 4-8-2 1522 was derailed in north St. Louis, just 20 miles after an 18-month, back-to-original-spec overhaul. The running gear work starts from scratch again. Follow it here in photos provided by Scott Lindsay of Steam Operations Corporation. (Updated 23 November 1999)

Updated with new photos! The unfortunate damage to ex-SOO 4-6-2 2719 in May 1999 had one beneficial side-effect; the repair to the locomotive's running gear has been well-documented by the Locomotive & Tower Preservation Fund and Steam Operations Corporation. Thanks to the generosity of several people connected with the repairs, SteamCentral has put together a comprehensive summary of the work. (16 June 1999; updated 1 December 1999)
